Repti Fogger by Zoo Med Review
This month I was in need of a fogger, and contacted the west coast Zoo-Med representative. They gladly provided me with the Repti Fogger at no cost to use in the rescue. Certain times of the year, funds as a rescue can be tight, so this kind of a gesture from a company, is highly appreciated, and shows a commitment to helping, rather than just bottom line finances.
The Repti Fogger comes all boxed up of course, and to some it might seem a little daunting to assemble, but is actually rather easy, and the directions are in plain English. The design, if you have done any building, is readily apparent how it fits together. The only issue I had, was the level detector is set very high, so if it isn’t exactly level and steady, it will not turn on (safety first!).
Frogs, and certain other jungle reptiles need a higher humidity level, than a dripper or water dish can provide; the automation of the fogger, allows for a fill it and forget it lifestyle.
On the highest setting the one liter water bottle lasts about 6-8 hours, but that is a constant output of fog.
Normal use (Medium), and you fill it each morning, for all day fogging of your terrarium.
A neat feature on the fogger, is the safety shut off. If you forget to put water in one morning, your fogger will not burn itself out, trying to heat water that isn’t there. The Repti Fogger automatically shuts off, preventing any safety issues (fire, burning out the heating element, etc).
Be sure to use distilled water, as normal water can leave hard water deposits on the heating element and lessen the effectiveness of the unit. Overall, It was easy to set up, easy to use and maintain, and the quick response, and overwhelming support from a large company, for a little rescue like me, was awesome to see.
